AC Milan to be without key player against Napoli

Serie A

Due to a calf injury, Pierre Kalulu will miss AC Milan’s match against Serie A’s top team, Napoli, the defending Italian champions said on Monday.

Milan released a statement in which it disclosed that center-back Kalulu had hurt his right calf and that further testing would take place in a week.

That eliminates the 22-year-old from the trip to Napoli on Sunday. Napoli is 19 points ahead of Lazio and is just weeks away from winning the Italian championship for the first time since 1990.

Next month, Milan will play Napoli in an all-Italian quarterfinal of the Champions League. Injured while representing France Under-21s internationally, Kalulu missed their 4-0 loss to England due to the injury.

Milan is fighting to make the Champions League for the upcoming season and is currently in fourth place, 23 points behind Napoli.

With 11 games remaining, Roma is one point behind Milan, and sixth-placed Atalanta is two points further back.
