After Nunez flops, Liverpool are interested in Nunes

Premier League

According to sources who spoke to 90min, Wolves are not currently aware of Liverpool’s alleged interest in midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Despite being frequently linked to a move to Anfield throughout the summer, Nunes joined Wolves from Sporting CP back in August for a club-record fee of £38m.

Liverpool reportedly still wants to sign Nunes and will make a new approach for him this summer. According to recent reports in England, Liverpool believes a £44 million offer should be sufficient to finally bring him to Merseyside.

Wolves, however, are aware that no clubs have expressed interest in Nunes, and they regard him as a long-term part of their future at Molineux, according to 90min.

In response to recent rumors that Nunes was on the verge of leaving Wolves, Julen Lopetegui insisted that the midfielder is content there and the club has no plans to let him go.

“We can say that Matheus is our player, a member of the Wolves, and he is overjoyed to be here,” said Lopetegui.

Nunes has now appeared 16 times for Wolves this season across all competitions; strangely, he might play this weekend in the FA Cup match against Liverpool at Anfield.

The search for a midfielder by Liverpool has continued with their pursuit of Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid are vying for the teenager’s services as well.
