The excitement around “La Pulga” isn’t showing any signs of lessening following Argentina‘s victory in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where Lionel Messi lifted the much anticipated trophy.

Many Argentines claimed they would vote for Messi as president in a recent survey by Giacobbe & Asociados.

Jorge Giacobbe’s statistics showed that 43.7 percent of respondents would choose Messi to sit in the Casa Rosada, while 37.8 percent said no.

A further 17.5 percent indicated that they would think about supporting the PSG striker, while 0.9 percent were unsure or chose not to respond.

He swept past elected officials

Messi performed better than every politician he was up against in the poll. Javier Milei received 12.0 percent of the vote, Cristina Kirchner received 11.3 percent, Patricia Bulrich received 8.8 percent, and Mauricio Macri received 6.9 percent. The PSG striker received 36.7 percent of the vote.

Horacio R. Larreta, Facundo Manes, Sergio Massa, Alberto Fernandez, the incumbent president, and Nicolas del Cano all received even worse approval ratings: 2.9 percent, 1.8 percent, 1.4 percent, and 0.8 percent, respectively.

The choice to forgo the Casa Rosada celebration

Participants also shared their thoughts on the Albiceleste’s choice to skip the World Cup celebration at the presidential mansion.

82.9 percent of respondents strongly agreed that the players should not have visited the Casa Rosada, while 15.8 percent disagreed. 1.4% of respondents remained uncertain or did not respond.

Who will be the New Messi

Most of respondents selected Julian Alvarez as the guy they believe would replace Messi as the Argentines National Team’s star player.

Others mentioned Enzo Fernandez, while others claimed they did not know or that no one was present at the time.
