Barcelona survived a huge scare as Soldevila scores hattrick

Copa del Rey

Ansu Fati’s extra-time goal gave Barcelona the Copa del Rey victory over Spanish third-tier team Intercity despite a close call. La Masia’s product Soldevila scored hattrick.

Oriol Soldevila, who was let go by Birmingham City last summer, put the La Liga heavyweights on the defensive with a hat-trick attempt.

Before tying the score again after Ousmane Dembele gave Barcelona the lead again, he first cancelled out Ronald Araujo’s early goal.

In the 77th minute, Raphinha scored, but shortly after, Soldevila scored again.

This forced extra time, when Barcelona advanced to the round of 16 on Fati’s deflected goal.

After the match Araujo told Movistar:

“It was the magic of the cup.”

“It will serve us to learn from, the cup is like this, we know that.”
