Champions League: Benzema alone thrashes PSG

Real Madrid have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League thanks to a hat-trick from Karim Benzema in the second half. In Wednesday night’s game, Real beat French title contenders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-2 on aggregate to reach the quarterfinals. Earlier, PSG had won the first leg 1-0.

In the second leg of the pre-quarterfinal, Real managed to reverse the situation by one goal at home. Despite taking an early lead in the second leg, PSG failed to maintain its lead. In Wednesday night’s game at the Santiago Bernabeu, PSG took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute through a goal by Kylian Mbappe.

Despite trailing 1-0 in the first half, Benzema completed a hat-trick in the 17 minute of the second half. In the 61st minute, Real took the lead through a mistake by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Captain Karim Benzema scored to level the game at 1-1. Unable to clear the ball easily under control, Benzema easily scored a pass from Vinicius Jr.

In the 76th minute, Benzema scored the second goal for both the individual and the team to make it 2-1. Benzema then scored the third goal in the 78th minute to complete a hat-trick to take the team to the quarterfinals.
