David Datro Fofana: Closer look to Chelsea’s new signing

Premier League

David Datro Fofana, a striker from Molde, has been acquired by Chelsea.

Since handing Erling Haaland his top-flight debut in 2017, Molde has gained attention in recent years, and it appears that the Norwegian team has been diligent in their scouting and training of young strikers ever since.

The following Molde product is Fofana, and Chelsea are apparently willing to spend more than €10 million to sign him in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Fofana, one of SciSports’ top-rated young African players, has the potential to blaze a trail in the Premier League in the ensuing years.

Fofana is now a Chelsea player, but Brighton had been rumored to have started negotiations with the midfielder in November.

Stamford Bridge continues to be a stronger draw than the Amex Stadium, though, as the Seagulls have discovered recently to their cost, with Graham Potter and Marc Cucurella making the switch in recent months.

Which position does Fofana play?

Fofana is a striker who has previously played in deeper and wider positions. At one point in his career, he was even seen playing fullback for Molde, but he now appears to be the No. 9 striker.

With Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling, Armando Broja injured, and Romelu Lukaku’s loan to Inter Milan having no recall option, Chelsea needs a player with his profile.

In 24 appearances for Norway’s Eliteserien in 2022, Fofana scored 15 goals and provided five assists.

When does Fofana’s agreement end?

The final day of Fofana’s Molde contract was December 31, 2024. At Stamford Bridge, he has a five-year contract.

What is Fofana’s age?

Fofana, who was born on December 22, 2002, is currently 19 years old.

He was born on the same day as Dan Petrescu, a former Chelsea right-back.
