Following reports that talks over a new contract have stagnated, speculation about Lionel Messi’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has increased recently.
Since Messi’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, he is free to leave PSG in the summer and look for a new team. Despite the club’s financial situation, a return to Barcelona has been considered and seems to be a real possibility.
Ronaldinho is the most recent player to call for Messi to return to his previous team, Barcelona, among other current and former players. According to Sport, the Brazilian, who during his playing career also played for PSG, will be delighted for Messi wherever he ends up, but he hopes it will be at Barcelona.
“Messi and I are friends, and I’m thrilled for him. It makes me delighted to see friends achieve their goals. I believe Messi to be the best (of all time). I don’t care where he is; I just want to see him happy. It would be fantastic if he could complete his career there with all the history he has with Barcelona.
Messi’s negotiations with PSG are anticipated to pick back up in the following weeks, but a move back to Barcelona is fast approaching.
