Erling Haaland breaks another record in the Premier league

Premier League

After scoring twice against Leeds United, Erling Haaland became the player to reach 20 Premier League goals the quickest of any player.

Jack Grealish provided two assists for Manchester City’s goal-scoring juggernaut against Leeds, his hometown team, in the Premier League champions’ 3-1 victory.

In his first season in England, it not only brought him to 26 in all competitions but also enabled him to set a new Premier League record.

In comparison to players like Kevin Phillips, Fernando Torres, Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Sergio Aguero, Thierry Henry, Diego Costa, and Harry Kane, Haaland has scored 20 goals in just 14 appearances.

The previous record holder, Phillips, accomplished the feat in 21 games; Shearer needed an additional eight to reach the feat.

Given his current performance, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Haaland absolutely shatter the mark most goals in a season.

Shearer, the league’s leading scorer, holds that record after scoring 34 goals while helping Blackburn Rovers win the league in 1994–1955.

Shearer achieved this feat in 42 games as opposed to 38, and the former England captain has already expressed concern that Haaland might dethrone him.

Although Haaland missed a few good opportunities at Elland Road, he still scored with either foot and is making the Premier League his playground.

Haaland has scored 45 goals in 42 games so far in 2022, and he will undoubtedly try to keep up this incredible pace into 2023.

On December 31 at the Etihad Stadium, Haaland and City will take on Everton in an effort to close the year on a positive note.

City is five points behind Arsenal, who they still have to play both at home and away in 2023, after 15 games.
