Rio de Janeiro: FIFA has announced that the postponed match between Brazil and Argentina will be played again in the South American selection of Qatar World Cup 2022.
The match between the two teams in San Paolo in September was postponed after Brazilian health officials entered the field, claiming that the criteria for the Covid 19 infection had been violated.
Brazilian health officials claim that three Argentine players from the English Premier League arrived in Brazil for the game but did not complete the quarantine period.
The Brazilian government has said that Emiliano Bu!ndia, along with Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero and Giovanni Lo Celso, submitted false immigration documents when they entered the country from the UK.
FIFA has set up a committee to investigate the matter. The committee submitted its report five months later.
FIFA has banned Martinez, Romero, Lo Celso and Buendia for two games. FIFA has stated that the game will be played again in San Paulo, but no date has been set.
Brazil and Argentina have already secured places in the Qatar World Cup. Both teams now have four games to play.
