Andrey Santos, a wonderkid from Brazil, has been signed by Chelsea, and official confirmation should come very soon.
Several sources claim that Chelsea will pay €12.5 million for the Vasco da Gama defensive midfielder, plus add-ons.
Following the capture of Ivory Coast striker David Datro Fofana from Molde, Santos will be Chelsea’s second addition of the January transfer window.
Chelsea beat Barcelona and Newcastle
Andrey Santos was signed by Chelsea before he was signed by Barcelona or Newcastle.
Santos, 18, has been gaining interest from some of the top clubs in Europe after scoring eight goals in 33 games for Vasco da Gama in 2022 while playing defensive midfield.
According to rumors, Santos, who will join Inter Miami in 2023, was viewed as Sergio Busquets‘ long-term replacement by Barca.
Meanwhile, Newcastle wanted him to play with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton in an all-Brazilian midfield.
Santos’ failure to secure a UK visa had been reported earlier this week, but it appears the issue has been resolved.
