Karim Benzema unfollows all France national team players except five

Players

Karim Benzema has unfollowed all but five of his former teammates from France on Instagram.

After witnessing his country lose to Argentina in the World Cup, the illustrious striker announced his retirement from international competition.

“I made the effort and the mistakes to be where I am today and I am proud of them. “I have written my story and ours is coming to an end.” wrote Benzema on social media

If Benzema hadn’t pulled out of the squad the night before the tournament began in Qatar, his final game in a France jersey might have been the 2022 World Cup final game.

Just a few days before France’s opening match against Australia, the French Football Federation shockingly announced that Benzema would be out for the whole tournament.

Karim Benzema has been forced to withdraw from the World Cup after being struck in the left quadriceps, they claimed.

Karim’s anguish is shared by the entire crew, and they all wish him quick recovery.

Didier Deschamps, the manager, continued, “I am incredibly sad for Karim who made this World Cup a huge ambition. Even with this latest setback for the French team, I am completely confident in my team. We shall use every resource to confront the enormous challenge that lies ahead.”

However, rumors that claimed Benzema would rejoin the team for the World Cup final surfaced days before the event.

Deschamps swiftly denied those rumors during a press conference.

However, further reports said Benzema was “outraged” that Deschamps had forced him to leave the French World Cup camp. He is thought to have fully recovered from his injuries in three days and would have played for the majority of the competition.

The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner instantly announced his retirement from international competition after Benzema skipped the final in Qatar.

According to additional reports, Hugo Lloris and Antoine Griezmann weren’t particularly “disappointed” that Benzema had left the France team.

All but five of Benzema’s former France teammates have been unfollowed.

Benzema has allegedly unfollowed all but five of his old France teammates, which is the ultimate insult of our time.

According to the Spanish publication Marca, Benzema only continues to follow his Real Madrid teammates Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, as well as Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane, and Marcus Thuram.

He does, however, continue to follow the official account for the French National Team.

Benzema continues to follow Zinedine Zidane, the probable next manager of France who might persuade him to come out of retirement.

If Benzema keeps his word, he will finish his career with 37 goals in 97 appearances for France.

In March 2007, he scored in his debut match for his country against Australia.

However, a five-year absence resulting from his involvement in the sex tape blackmail plan involving Mathieu Valbuena, a teammate in France, hurt his reputation in the nation and prevented him from being a part of their World Cup victory in 2018.

He did join the team again for Euro 2020, where he won the UEFA Nations League and scored four goals.
