Napoli are one step away from league title

Serie A

With a 2-1 victory over Lecce, Napoli increased their advantage over Lazio to 19 points, moving them one step closer to winning the Serie A championship for the first time in 33 years.

Napoli’s first goal came from a header by Giovanni di Lorenzo, and Federico di Francesco matched it after the intermission.

When defender Antonino Gallo chested the ball and saw it slide through goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone’s hands, Napoli scored the game-winning own goal.

After losing to AC Milan 4-0 on Sunday, the visitors held on to win.

Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan squandered many opportunities on Friday as Simone Inzaghi’s team settled for a 1-1 draw following a 90th-minute equalizer from Salernitana.

Empoli held AC Milan to a scoreless draw, keeping them in third position but one point ahead of their city rivals.

On Saturday, seventh-place Juventus will visit Lazio.
