The Netherlands defeated Gibraltar in the Euro 2024 qualifying match thanks to two goals from Nathan Ake, giving Ronald Koeman’s second coaching tenure its first victory.

With all 51 shots and 86% of the possession against the underdogs at Feyenoord, the Netherlands were completely dominant.

After the World Cup, Koeman took command, but in their opening match of current season on Friday, they were defeated 4-0 by France.

Ake blasted in a late deflection third goal after Memphis Depay and Ake scored headers off of Denzel Dumfries’ passes.

Liam Walker of Gibraltar was sent in the 51st minute for a poor challenge on Mats Wieffer, a Dutch rookie.

After the World Cup in Qatar, Koeman, who had previously led the Netherlands from 2018 to 2020, took over for Louis van Gaal.

At 41 years and 179 days old, Gibraltar forward Lee Casciaro maintained his record as the oldest player ever to participate in a European Championship qualifying match.

Niels Hartman, a Dutch-born football player who is currently a student at Loughborough University and plays for their squad, made his international debut for the team that is currently ranked 200th in the world.
