With his goal in Newcastle’s 2-0 victory over Leicester, Dan Burn helped the team advance to its first League Cup semifinal in 47 years.
Joelinton‘s clinical finish and Burn’s second-half goal guaranteed the Magpies’ position in the last four.
The Foxes were under constant pressure from Eddie Howe’s team, and by the hour mark, their efforts had paid off.
Burn, a Newcastle fan since he was a youngster, was able to evade two defenders from Leicester as he entered the box.
Then, to give his team a well-earned lead, he fired a low finish past Danny Ward and into the bottom right corner.

TalkSPORT’s Adrian Clarke commented, “This is a fantastic goal from Dan Burn, what a way to open your account,” amid the cheers of the home crowd.
“What a reception he is getting; he has played the game outstandingly. Within their own defensive third, Leicester was fumbling the ball.
He simply charges past two or three opponents, opening space with his right foot. Has he had the self-assurance to use his weaker foot to sneak it into the distant corner? Indeed he has!
Burn joined St. James’ Park from Brighton in January of last year and is now in his second season there.
In his previous 36 games for the club, he had not scored, but he is suddenly on fire for his hometown team.

In less than 12 minutes, Joelinton scored his third goal of the season to make it 2-0 for Newcastle.
As one of four Premier League teams vying for a position in the championship game, they are now on their way to the Carabao Cup semifinals.
