Neymar’s exit from PSG: The challenge to reach a compromise

Transfer

Concerning Neymar’s potential exit from Paris Saint-Germain, much has been written and said. Since moving from Barcelona in 2017, he has been mentioned in transfer rumors every summer.

Now, practically for the first time, PSG and Neymar have the same goals in mind. The club is prepared to begin planning for his exit.

According to UOL, Neymar is aware of PSG’s plans firsthand. Now the challenge is to reach a compromise that pleases both sides. It’s important to keep in mind that the former Barcelona and Santos player extended his contract last year through 2027.

The pay of Neymar

A significant barrier is his wage, which is close to 50 million euros per season. However, PSG, under the leadership of Nasser Al Khelaifi, are prepared to significantly cut the value of a potential transfer in order to “get rid” of Neymar.

Neymar is also open to negotiating a pay cut. The English market is still open to the 31-year-old Brazilian. He has recently been connected to Manchester United, Newcastle, and Chelsea.

The reality is that Neymar’s performance has fallen far short of expectations due to injuries that have plagued him at crucial times during each season. Even so, he has impressive stats: in 173 games, he has 118 goals and 77 assists.

With a few more years of his career left, there is undoubtedly a team where Neymar can succeed, but with the club’s fanbase at an all-time low, his situation at PSG appears to be untenable.
