Philippe Countinho’s days in Aston Villa are over

Premier League

According to rumours, ASTON VILLA will trade Philippe Coutinho next month.

The Brazilian was initially on loan from Barcelona when he came at Villa Park in January.

The 30-year-old Coutinho joined to reunite with Steven Gerrard, a former teammate at Liverpool.

However, Philippe Coutinho might leave the same way Gerrard did in October, despite making his first loan permanent in the summer.

Villa are pleased that the attacking midfielder’s agent Kia Joorabchian was able to secure him a new team, according to Football Insider.

In his first eight games for the Midlands, Coutinho had a strong start, scoring four goals and setting up three more.

However, he stopped producing, scoring just once more in the final 11 games of the previous campaign.

Villa gave the 69-cap player a four-year contract anyway, making the transfer permanent.

However, he has struggled this season, making 13 appearances across all competitions without recording a single goal or assist.

Even Gerrard seemed to lose faith in him because he benched him for his final two games as manager.

Because of a hamstring injury he sustained in early November, Coutinho has yet to make an appearance for Gerrard’s replacement Unai Emery.

He couldn’t attend the Qatar World Cup because of the problem.

But he has now started training again and might be available when Villa meet his former team Liverpool tomorrow in their return to Premier League action.
