As Portugal defeated Luxembourg 6-0 in Euro 2024 qualification, Cristiano Ronaldo increased both his goals and appearance totals.
In Thursday’s victory over Liechtenstein, Ronaldo made a world-record 197th appearance, breaking the previous mark held by Kuwait striker Bader Al-Mutawa. He also scored twice in the 4-0 victory.
The former Manchester United forward then added two more goals against Luxembourg on Sunday, bringing his total for all competitions to 122.

After nine minutes, Ronaldo scored his first goal. He added his second just after the half-hour mark. Within 18 minutes, goals from Bernardo Silva of Manchester City and Joao Felix of Chelsea made it 3-0 for the visitors.
Rafael Leao added the final goal in the 88th minute after Otavio, a second-half substitute, had made it 5-0 just two minutes earlier. Rafael Leao had earlier missed a penalty.
In his first two games in charge, former Belgium manager Martinez has seen his team score 10 goals without conceding.
