The number 10 jersey for the Brazilian national team, along with the renowned Pele jersey, would be an honor, according to Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes.
The Selecao will compete in their first international match since Pele’s passing on Saturday, and they hope to honor him by defeating Morocco.
“I hope he’s doing well. We are going to run for him here to recognize everything he accomplished,” At his pre-match press conference, Rodrygo Goes gave an explanation.
“We are aware that he is the reason we are famous today.”
The greatest footballer in Brazilian history passed away on December 29 of last year at the age of 82 following a battle with cancer. He is cherished in Brazil for helping the Selecao win three World Cups.

“We had a great conversation at his place before I traveled to Real Madrid.”
“When I met him, I already admired him, but after that chat, my admiration for him increased significantly.”
They both graduated from the Santos academy
Rodrygo emphasized that he too received training at Santos as a member of their academy, just like Pele and more recently Neymar, and that he will now have the honor of following in their footsteps by donning the number 10 shirt for the national team.
“It’s an honor for me to continue in the footsteps of Pele, Neymar, and the other Santos-born athletes. I’m thrilled, and I consider it an honor. I intend to play a fantastic game,” he said.
