Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, owner of Premier League club Chelsea, has decided to sell the club. In a statement issued on Wednesday night, Roman said he had decided to sell Chelsea.
As the owner he won 17 important trophy for Chelsea. He bought the club in July 2003. He made the announcement 62 minutes before the start of the fifth round of the FA Cup against Luton Town. Despite his decision, the club won 3-2 and Chelsea made it to the quarterfinals.
He is considered a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The owner Roman has stated that he has decided to sell Chelsea in the interest of the club. He has not made public the official opinion on the price of the club. However, it can be sold for 3 billion pounds.
However, he has recently been banned from living in the UK. He had been living in the UK on an investor visa. His visa has expired. Britain has been reluctant to issue visas to Russian citizens since Russia invaded Ukraine. That is why the Roman was not allowed to stay in Britain.
