United are set to sign the next Erling Haaland

Transfer

According to rumors in Denmark, Manchester United is in the lead in the competition to recruit Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, who is seen as the next Erling Haaland.

With seven goals and two assists in 23 Serie A appearances for Atalanta this season, Hojlund has excelled. Only 14 of those appearances have been starts.

Hojlund, a 6’3″ striker with quickness, has unavoidably evoked comparisons to Haaland. On Thursday, when he scored three goals for Denmark in their 3-1 victory over Finland in the Euro 2024 qualifying round, excitement about his potential reached a fever level.

Although it was rumoured that scouts from Newcastle and Arsenal were also present in Copenhagen, United hold an advantage in his chase.

The “concrete interest” of Man Utd

A concrete interest in bringing Hojlund to Old Trafford exists at Manchester United, according to the Danish publication Ekstra Bladet. Dubbed the Next Erling Haaland, Hojlund is open to the move and has shown some interest in joining the Red Devils.

With Cristiano Ronaldo long gone, Wout Weghorst underwhelming in his place, and 27-goal leading scorer Marcus Rashford performing his finest work from the left flank, United are on the market for a No. 9.

They have been connected to players like Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani, but Hojlund, who FootballTransfers’ internal algorithm values at €19.5 million, would be a better investment.

In January, Hojlund also acknowledged supporting the Red Devils.

When asked, he replied, “Now that you ask, I won’t disguise the fact that I’m a passionate Manchester United fan. So, it would be one of the main issues for me personally.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t accept offers from other prestigious clubs in the future.

When Haaland was playing for Red Bull Salzburg, United attempted to sign him because Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had previously worked with the Norwegian at Molde.

He turned down Dortmund and now plays for Manchester City, where he has scored 42 goals in 37 games since joining for €60 million last summer.
