On Tuesday night, Manchester United extended their streak of victories in the Premier League. But certainly was not a good day for Donny Van de Beek.
In their first two matches following the winter break for the 2022 World Cup, Erik ten Hag’s team defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.
These victories solidified their status as top-four favorites, and their victory over Bournemouth strengthened that reputation.
Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and the surging Marcus Rashford scored goals as United rolled to a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Overall, it was a memorable night for the Red Devils and one that saw Lisandro Martinez play again after helping Argentina win the World Cup.
There was, however, one significant drawback for Ten Hag and his team.
Casemiro‘s goal gave United a 1-0 lead early in the game, and Donny van de Beek, who was unexpectedly started, sustained what appeared to be a very serious knee injury.
The Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi made an incredibly poor tackle on the Dutch midfielder, who has battled to get playing time since moving to England.

Van de Beek had to leave the field in tears as his knee buckled under the strain of the effort.
Alejandro Garnacho, a teenage sensation, took his spot.
Van de Beek was obviously in pain as he received medical attention, but at least there was some consolation in seeing him leave the field of play.
