After a remarkable career, Lionel Messi won the 2022 World Cup at the end of the previous year.

As the Champions League is now done for another season, his focus has shifted to PSG and their pursuit of both their first-ever league championship and another Champions League victory.

Yet as of this writing, Lionel Messi will be a free agent following this season.

This has sparked a lot of online speculation, with teams like FC Barcelona and Manchester City already rumored to be interested in signing the little Argentine.

And now, according to Achraf Ben Ayad, should Messi successfully execute a stunning homecoming from PSG before the start of next season, Barca will give him the No. 10 shirt back.

From 2008–09 until his departure from Barcelona in 2021, Messi wore the No. 10 jersey, helping to make it famous.

With Messi’s departure, Ansu Fati received the coveted jersey, but the youthful forward has so far been unable to live up to the expectations in Catalonia.

While paying Messi’s entire salary will be difficult, rumours indicate that Barcelona may be willing to offer him a 10-million-euro contract in exchange for a cut of whatever revenue the team generates through the sale of his replacement’s jerseys, sponsorships, and other sources.
